Edmonton is a city with a unique design culture that often flies under the radar. The Mojo Design Inc team was looking for a way to showcase this talent and bring it to the forefront while raising awareness for local children's charities. What came about, was a challenge for teams of four to create a unique display of their combined talents in an 8 foot by 8 foot space. Check out this video for a recap of this years event.
This years design showcase allowed designers to collaborate with local suppliers in a way that they were unable to before. They were no longer bound by a 24 hour installation period. Instead, they were given one month to create their space and truly showcase their talents. As a supplier for this event, we worked with 3 teams to provide a unique element to their designs. Every step of the way was tantalizing, from the initial meetings where we got a sneak peak into the concept, to the final construction phase where we went to site to install our stone. The whole project was unbelievable to be a part of and we can't wait to do it again and again.
The site for the Vignettes Showcase this year was at the old Sobey's on 104 St and what started as an empty grocery store, transformed into a unique showcase for the Edmonton culinary and design world. The Belvedere Garden Bar designed by Mojo Inc was unreal. You entered the space through this amazing hill like structure that was lit up with twinkle lights. When you emerged into the space you were greeted by a column that was transformed into a tree, with leaves created by kids from the charities the event was supporting. The whole bar was stunning - and those cocktails - a true showcase of creativity and talent.
Moving throughout the venue, you were greeted by a Lexus being treated as a live canvas for Giselle Denis.
Before reaching the showcase, you were greeted by some of the unique work of some of the suppliers in the showcase. From furniture, to art, and everything in between, creativity and talent was evident. One of my favourite aspects of being involved in this event, was the unique ability to see it go from concept to creation and enjoy everyone's reaction when the final results were revealed. The Vignettes Showcase proves that the design community in Edmonton is filled with talented people and is not to be overlooked. We're pleased to announce that Jennifer Hughes of Turquoise Chair and her team took home People's Choice award. We loved working with her team to supply the stone backdrop for her Wet Suit vignette. If you missed the Vignettes Showcase you can check out her design at the Edmonton Home & Garden Show March 23 - 26, 2017 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. You'll definitely want to keep an eye out for next years Vignettes event. I have a feeling it's going to be out of this world.

Thank you to Mojo Design Inc and the Vignettes team for allowing us to be a part of this design showcase. We couldn't be more in awe of the creativity that this city has to offer.
